How Our House Raising Project Transformed this Character Home
Project Overview
We took this humble character home in Wooloowin, Brisbane, and gave it a modern makeover. We raised the house, built under, and renovated the entire property to create the owner’s dream home.
This project cost around $700-800k and took approximately nine months to complete, from September 2023 to June 2024.
Project Challenges
This character home had only three bedrooms and one main bathroom, meaning it was too cramped for the family to live comfortably.
The house also had a number of character features to consider in our renovation, such as timber flooring, high ceilings, ornate architraves, casement windows and VJ walls.
Our Approach
We worked with A+K Designers to draw up a plan for the project that would suit our clients’ goals and budget.
We raised the house and built in underneath to create the extra space the family was craving, giving them new bedrooms and bathrooms. We replicated the existing high ceilings and character features throughout the design.
We also installed a new pool in the backyard, a garage, and an underground water tank for the house and gardens. Now the family can relax and enjoy their outdoor space this summer.
