Now that we’re heading into the festive season, you may be wanting to upgrade your kitchen to better serve your Christmas party needs.

Renovating your kitchen can be a big project with many expenses. If you’re looking to refresh your kitchen whilst sticking to a budget, then this blog is for you.

We’re sharing our top tips on how to update your kitchen without breaking the bank.

Stick to Existing Layout

Keeping your kitchen layout the same will help to significantly reduce renovation costs. Moving your walls, cupboards, plumbing and electrics can be expensive. If you’re happy to keep your layout how it is, then this will save you time, effort, and money. It also means you’ll be able to do more of the project yourself.

Re-Use Appliances

Instead of throwing your appliances out and buying new ones, you can save money by re-using them. If they are in good working order, then keep them. All you need to do is give them a good scrub and clean.

Upcycle Furniture

If your furniture is looking tired and out-dated, don’t throw it away. Upcycle it with a fresh coat of paint or varnish, or through reupholstering, to give it new life. Another way to save money on furniture is through op-shopping. Mismatched chairs are trendy at the moment, which helps.

Refresh Cabinets

Next, you’ll want to look at your cabinets. If they’re structurally sound but just outdated or an ugly colour, then you can paint or replace the doors. This will be much cheaper than the cost of replacing the entire cabinet.

Another idea is to remove the cupboard doors completely. Replace them with simple, open shelving for a modern and airy look.

Resurface Benchtops

If your benchtop is looking worn, you have a few options. There are a range of low-cost alternative materials you can choose from to replace it. Or, you can also resurface your existing benchtop to give it a refreshed look at minimal cost.

Update Electrical Fittings

As a final step, you will need to update your powerpoints covers, light switches, light fittings, and window coverings.  This is important for giving your kitchen a modern look, and ensuring your safety with electrical appliances. It also doesn’t have to cost too much, if you purchase these items at your local hardware store.
